Daily Schedule
Mishawaka High School offers students courses in a Block 8 format with four 85 minute classes each day in a two-day cycle for eight classes per semester. The anchor of the Block 8 format is a Block which we call Advisory. The Advisory block gives students a 'home base' in which they can study, build skills through remediation and/or tutoring, or visit their teachers for additional academic assistance.
Curriculum
We recommend the Indiana Core 40 diploma or the Indiana Academic and Technical Honors diploma to students as they plan their four years at MHS. Based upon Indiana Department of Education standards, Mishawaka High School offers a variety of courses and programs to meet the diverse interests of its students, including honors, Advanced Placement courses [with AP exams] and Indiana University Advanced College Project [ACP] courses. Our World Language department offers French, German, and Spanish. MHS also offers Project Lead the Way courses in Biomedical Science and Engineering. We also have a number of Ivy Tech Community College dual credit courses available. MHS is a partner with the Elkhart Area Career Center and Vogue for vocational training opportunities.

In 2014 MHS began an Early College program which was endorsed by the Center for Excellence in Leadership in Learning in 2019. As of today, only 44 high schools in Indiana are endorsed Early Colleges. The goal of this program is for students to earn the Indiana College Core (freshman year of college) or an Associate's degree concurrent with being in high school. At Mishawaka, around 20% of each graduating class participates in Early College and 30% of graduates earn dual credits. The Early College program at MHS invites all students to apply, and specifically looks to support students who will be the first in their families to go to college, who are from groups that are traditionally underrepresented on college campuses, and who are from families that are economically disadvantaged.
